For me many of the most beautiful pianos were produced in the period 1890s up to the 1930s. This example from 1923 was restored, restrung, regulated, tuned and voiced to Steinway spec.
I’ve occasionally seen people online ask if a piano has Steinway parts. These people are missing an important point: it’s one thing to have Steinway parts, but if they have not been fitted to Steinway spec by someone who knows how — with the technical, voicing and tuning skills — it won’t make a great deal of difference to the sound and playability of the piano.
